Ca$h Bandicoot - Why The Good Die Young (Official Audio)
What’s good everyone? We have been blessed again with another gem from the late Ca$h Bandicoot of Reno, NV. Legends never die and the energy is still being felt in the afterlife. This posthumous offering is titled “ Why The Good Die Young” and is another reminder of the star power that the young MC possessed. It’s a lifestyle thing, Ca$h was one of those artist who just had the sauce. Sprinkling his style into everything he did in life. Especially in music, never afraid to experiment with his sound as it had a wide range. Versatile as any hip hop vocalist could be. Often times, not requiring a pen, Ca$h had a lot of perspective to share straight from his heart.
The irony in this record, is that Ca$h was feeling the pressures of a fast life taking a toll on those around him. Losing friends from earth or to the judicial system, the pain is heavy as it can come from all around you when it hits close to home. The strings and heavy baseline allow Ca$h to come in and let him thrive in his element. As he croons over high energy adlibs, Ca$h tells a story about those who he lost over that 24 years he spent on Earth. It’s tough when your day ones begin to go. This life, in what we choose to do, comes with pros and cons. Regardless, everyone has to let it out. Ca$h chose to share his pain through his art.
This song is a quintessential track in the Ca$h Bandicoot catalog as it gets a glimpse of the pivotal change in perspective. Ca$h was self aware and thought a lot about his presence when it came to music the last year of his life. Recruiting artists in other states for his collective and speaking ideas of unity. Taking pride in the bubbling music scene in his city, although he always did his own thing, he knew what was going on. Ca$h wanted to see his city win. With the music going up, he reflects on those he started the journey with. Even admitting that, during the time, he was not sure how he made it out of certain situations when his loved ones couldn’t.
The song itself is raw and filled with emotion but it’s motivating at the same time. It inspires me to want to keep carrying the torch for all the people I knew in life, who are no longer around. This blog itself, and it’s name, are tributes to a lost friend. I know exactly the feeling Ca$h is expressing in this song. It is a very real feeling that millions of people around the world go through. There’s not telephone to the sky but we can always stay in touch with those who have passed on. For myself, I will play this record whenever I want to hold my loved ones names up in memory. There has not been a day since his passing, that I haven’t thought about Ca$h and this record reassures me that as long as you keep their memory alive then their presence is immortal.
More Ca$h Bandicoot music on the way and plenty more music from YLOC ENT this summer. The catalog and work ethic is next level.

Mak Avina - Cielo (Official Audio)
What’s good everyone? The Weather Watcher is here to share a couple gems from some dope artists you might not know too much about. We are kicking off Sunday with Mak Avina and his latest offering with “Cielo.” A smooth song where the Nevada based MC opens up about his upbringing. With no time to spare, Mak comes through with honesty. Speaking on his family dynamic as a first generation immigrant here in America and the struggles it came with. A perspective that is not often heard in the genre of hip-hop. Nonetheless it is very appreciated as the backbone of this great nation comes from a deep history rooted in multiculturalism. A concept that has seamlessly integrated with the variety of artists we are seeing these days.
For Mak Avina, his story is unique, being born in Baja Cali, Mexico. Spending his developmental years there until reaching the states in 2002 around the age 6 years old. He was brought by his family migrating up to America and they found themselves in Elko, NV. With that background, the first verse sets the tone of how his path ended up leading him to where he had to go. Although it’s something that could leave him with resentment, he counts his blessings. After all, he was brought here for a reason. To be given the opportunity to better himself in a way that his family felt they needed by coming here. There is nothing to take for granted as the people before him sacrificed so much.
To let down those who are looking to you to take it a step further is a real worry for anyone who may be first generation anything. Whether it’s a first generation citizen, immigrant, graduate, or anything that promotes advancement of one’s success. Mak Avina has come to learn over the years that the pressure he may have felt was not for nothing. He is realizing that before that diamond pops out, that he has to hang on and face more challenges to become the man he needs to be for his loved ones. Acting out of his morals and beliefs, he has trust that when it is all said and done that he will have seen out his purpose. The plan set out for him is divine and he has faith in that.
With his head and heart in the right place, close to god, he can do no wrong. Trusting in his path and destiny as long as he puts the work in and does not let distractions throw him off course. This song is a testament to those who have had to work for everything. Working to get by or working to prove that you are more than your appearance or background. Regardless of your setback, it is possible to persevere and find a lane in this life. In America, anything is possible as long as you keep at it. Everything you ever wanted, you already possess internally. All it takes is for you to find that advantage and unlock it to better your own spirit.
Go follow Mak Avina and stay tuned from more on this artist’s catalog.

ZP Ratik - Hungry Featuring Jon Connor (Official Audio)
⚠️ STORM THREAT: This is not a drill! ⚠️
ZP Ratik is back with some early June heat. With a banger of a track that would make any solar flare look like light work. The song is called “Hungry” featuring veteran lyricist Jon Connor and is the music personification of an independent artists drive. Shoutout to ZP for sending this track a week in advance and allowing the exclusive listen. To see it finally out is very exciting. Personally this has been my get up and confront the day motivation every morning since. I find myself wanting to be the best version of me, whether its wanting to be active or get up on my hustle, when I listen to this song. I know any true rap fans or hip hop heads will be able to get down with this one right here. Fans of ZP Ratik or Jon Connor can both make an introduction with a seamless transition of energy as the two go toe to toe for some lyrical sparring to better the culture.
The song spares no time as ZP immediately hops with 10 seconds of the song beginning. It has been quite some time that ZP has been perfecting his craft and today he’s talking that big shit but ready to back up all of it. Nothing has ever stopped him from trying to accomplish what is on his mind. Whether it be following artists to different states to get a good spot on the opening set or trading shifts with co-workers to be able to make these trips happen. If he’s not performing then he’s going to be recording, if he not writing music then he’s going to be filming a video, and so on and so forth. He has dealt with it all, working the merch booth and trying to turn anyone willing to listen into a fan. The janky promoter’s being shiesty with the ticket sales never prevented him from tearing down that stage.
“I don’t care if you don’t love me but I love you if you love me. I’ll go hard for my squad and my city, we be hungry. Why they treat us like we nothing? We got artists, man, we lucky. I’m about to keep it coming. Only time you take a trip is when you running. I’m a boss, I’m a king, I’m a peasant, I’m a thief. I’m whatever I need to be, to get me to where I need. Killing beats definitively, by any fucking means. I wake up still me, so I rinse and repeat!”
You won’t see ZP asking nobody for anything that he could do for himself. This has afforded him a resume that is nothing to sneeze at. It’s no fluke either, it’s no accident that he leaves it all on the mic every chance he can show it. Never one to diminish another’s shine, ZP shows love to artists he respects to encourage a true creative culture for his city to help it bubble. Despite the hate he encounters, he choose to only entertain those who are for him or for the same cause. He wants to let it be known that he’s part of an active scene. If anyone can kick down the door for Reno to have a new spotlight, ZP could do it. With that being said, he commissions another legendary MC who has proved himself as an established independent artist, Jon Connor.
“Homie I’m the truth, running on facts. Rappers see me, they get ghost, right? Like they ain’t write their own raps. I got in it and I meant it I won’t stop until I’m finished. And I will not change my image for a piece of a percentage. Fuck a critic cause these lyrics is my life and not a gimmick. Every line make you shake your head like you coming to your senses.”
Jon Connor has reached a pinnacle in his career and has seen some daunting heights for an independent artist of his caliber. Although he can maybe relax now that he has built such a reputable career from his craft, he chooses to let the fire inside burn. Being the parallel to ZP’s journey, his perspective serves as a message from Jon who was in the position of the former. Now that he is in a place he is in, he demonstrates that your position in this game is only as good as the desire you have for maintaining ravenous for your respect. Yesterday’s score doesn’t count in today’s ball game. What the rap game has to offer and the opinions that float around do not affect him. He is above the opinions of those who can’t do what he does or has ever done. Those that matter to him are the ones looking to him and the legacy he’s leaving behind. Inspiring people in his family and those looking up to him to benefit from the work he’s putting in. The desire to make sure his loved ones are good when he’s gone keeps him hungry even when people might assume he has already reached his goals.
Growth never stops and neither does this song when I get it in rotation. The beat goes crazy and allows the spitters on this song to go absolutely nuts. Just know to never get in the way of these two when it comes to this rap shit. If you aren’t hungry enough to be at the table, don’t even think about grabbing a plate in their presence. This one will be the fuel to a lot of activity going into the summer. I suggest you put this on your playlist right away.

Zelda - Dissociate (Official Audio)
What’s good everyone? We back live from the upper atmosphere, this time hovering in a different type of headspace. The vibes up here come in form of Dissociate by Zelda, the latest single from this Spring Creek, NV lyricist. Another excellent addition to the 2021 run of singles that Zelda has been blessing her listeners with. With every record, revealing a little bit more of the perspective she’s gathered in the last 24 years on the third rock from the sun. It seems very appropriate or fitting to timing of Zelda’s releases as I go through my own life experiences. Often articulating thoughts I previously have not been able to word myself; it helps initiate necessary adjustments in my perception to cope with things outside of my own control. The vulnerability and openness that we are fortunate enough to experience, through Zelda’s music, provides a service.
The parallels drawn from what Zelda shares in her music to experiences of my own. Every time I tune it, I am bewildered on how her words feel like they are straight out of my own conscious. That level of self-awareness is a unique trait. However, the heavy substance is always packaged in a very organic, captivating fashion. The songs are easy to get lost in the vibe. If you were listening slow, the message might just go over your head with sheer haste. It’s not easy to bear the burden of spending significant periods of time feeling misunderstood. Especially when it’s the people that know you best, or at least you thought so. It could be family, life long friends, or significant others. Love in all forms brings up an array of physiological responses. This weighs heavy on one’s conscious and brings upon many questions of one’s own flaws. Being so tied up in various relationships and maintaining the harmonious balance of taking care of yourself with those around you can be a mishap. Especially when there is not a single soul around you who sees it like you do.
When you wake up everyday, with your heart set on always stepping with your best foot forward, it’s easy to find yourself on shaky ground on the terrain you share with others. Energies change and people trajectories of growth do not synchronize. The growing pains that come from time’s toll on an individual can be hard for all parties. One’s truth is not the “end all, be all” of your surroundings. Communication goes a long way but the way you see the glass dictates how often you are willing to drink from it. It’s hard to forget who you think these people are in your mind, just like their expectation of you is embedded in their minds. As one who tries not to be married to my own opinions, it’s easy to feel offended by people trying to tell me how I feel or what my actions are saying to them. The projections may be displaced upon you for not compromising on your own boundaries, no disrespect to theirs.
“Picture what you want but truly I know who I am. Lately had it backwards, I been swimming in the sand. Thinking back to certain people, why they reprimand me. Acting funny like they barely stand me."
For what I may have done to wander off from the common ground that we once shared, I don’t know. However, memories keep me reeled in. Those I cherish too much to accept that drifting apart is alright. Sometimes it’s easier to step away from my own ego, set the pride aside and trust that you’ll be fine if you are numb to it. Accepting from a distance and living with it is the only way you can cope when a crossing of paths just becomes another trail lost to the journey. Being right all the time isn’t right, which should be a two way understanding but that’s idealistic. Both parties won’t be able to step away from their own feelings and come to a true compromise. At some point of battling for fairness, or some sort of reciprocated mutualism of what it takes to water each other’s growth, gets too draining.
Allow them to place their expectations on to you and be the bigger person. This world is a lot bigger than pride and relying on connection with the people you have known in life. The truth is that our experience is shaped by the attitude we carry. When we pass on, our loved ones, belongings, achievements, and all the things we ever cared about will not retain. What we retain is energy, the energy we circulate in this life and what we accumulate in our life span is what we have to face. There is nothing external that can make you happy, not even people. So take a step outside your head, think about your wrongs and rights. Take note on what you can fix in your control, think about how you can cope with things outside your control. Your mind is not you and you are not your mind. We are energy, neither created nor destroyed. So we harbor and wield the frequencies that we exude with our words, thoughts, and beliefs.
“Sipping on my Hennessy and rolling up my janes. Don’t believe in make believe. Reality, okay? But shit not what it seems, I don’t pretend to fit the frame. They knew that what I was different, didn’t think that I was same.”
Regardless of how you may see it, how others take notice or not, its necessary to remove yourself from these cycles of disillusionment to “fake it till you make it.” Own your scars and show them off. Don’t be embarrassed to be honest about who you are and don’t take anything personal. Be flawless with your speech. Be forgiving of yourself. Be understanding of others for who they are. People come and go, let them migrate as they please. When they choose to be around, don’t over extend yourself. Do your best, if you can look back at the end of your day and say “I did not intentionally hurt someone” then you can find peace in that. It is good enough for you. Find a way to live with your truth, even if it doesn’t speak to no one else. Remember that you are only responsible for what you say, not what they understand.

Danny Prophetz - Overthinking Featuring Cr38 (Official Audio)
“If I lose this job today, just know I’ll be fine. Yeah, I’ll be straight. If I lose my life today, just know I’ll be fine. Yeah, I’ll fly away.”
The mind is of boundless effort and is always running. So you better check it, too much thinking can be just as detrimental as being thoughtless. Sometimes trying to do good for you and yours can be the feather that breaks the dam. Don’t get me wrong, there’s beauty in everything. Being grateful is not only in attitude but in also in action. However, we all reach a cap and we lose our lid a little bit just to let out the incessant agitation from external stimuli. Sometimes when we reach that lull, we have nothing but time to reflect. There’s ups and downs, in turn, not every moment is meant for the highlight reel.
The mind is powerful, not every thought belongs to you. We are conditioned to contribute to a system that is non-discriminant to its harsh demands. It’s easy to forget what you were here to do. Even putting your best foot forward in this world does not guarantee that it will be reciprocated in the foreseeable future. The things beyond your control are to be embraced. The key to having a strong mental is to always remember to reel it back in, no matter how heavy it pulls you down inside. Its our own internal signal that we need help or a nudge to take a step back and think about you hold important.
“Feel like you can’t change it, guess you lost the remote. You need some game, get you a coach, you got lost on your own. See you alone can find a truth that your soul is yearning for. If you want but if you don’t, then you won’t, that’s how it go.”
Danny kicks off the first verse with pure honesty and lets out some steam but quickly knows how to bring it back. Get back in the game, no huddle. Its all about perspective, its inside and out. Energy is important, pay attention to the nuance of life’s parasitic ways. Its what you consume, keep around, believe in, project, and practice. Its easy to get taken off that train of thought when you got to focus on surviving. Regardless of what life throws at you, the byproduct of your existence holds a tangible weight in this realm of life. The way you release it and represent your spirit means more than you think.
Hold your composure and the universe got you covered, in due time, then you’ll be straight. Cr38 comes in with a soothing tone and shares his pitfalls with getting lost in his head. Every one is susceptible to getting lost every now and again. It may seem pointless and the examples of why things aren’t divine have been collected in abundance. An ounce of blessing is worth a pound of patience. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, right? Think about yourself, you are no different. Wield it with caution and do what thou wilt.
This song is honest and real. I quickly resonated with it and I think you would too. Give it a listen and share your thoughts on our social networks at the bottom of the page. Also, click the video and subscribe to the Good Mischief YouTube channel for more releases coming frequent, with 5 releases in a 2 month span, and plans for more this summer. Stay tuned!
