Mak Avina - Cielo (Official Audio)

Desde cuando saben que yo soy el mero, mero.
Jefe joven cada ves que entro
En mis pensamientos ando en el cielo
Y mi corazon ya se hizo hielo.

[Translation]:
Since when do they know that I am a mere, mere.
Young boss. Every time I walk in,
In my thoughts, I walk in heaven.
And my heart has already turned to ice.
— Mak Avina (Cielo)

What’s good everyone? The Weather Watcher is here to share a couple gems from some dope artists you might not know too much about. We are kicking off Sunday with Mak Avina and his latest offering with “Cielo.” A smooth song where the Nevada based MC opens up about his upbringing. With no time to spare, Mak comes through with honesty. Speaking on his family dynamic as a first generation immigrant here in America and the struggles it came with. A perspective that is not often heard in the genre of hip-hop. Nonetheless it is very appreciated as the backbone of this great nation comes from a deep history rooted in multiculturalism. A concept that has seamlessly integrated with the variety of artists we are seeing these days.

For Mak Avina, his story is unique, being born in Baja Cali, Mexico. Spending his developmental years there until reaching the states in 2002 around the age 6 years old. He was brought by his family migrating up to America and they found themselves in Elko, NV. With that background, the first verse sets the tone of how his path ended up leading him to where he had to go. Although it’s something that could leave him with resentment, he counts his blessings. After all, he was brought here for a reason. To be given the opportunity to better himself in a way that his family felt they needed by coming here. There is nothing to take for granted as the people before him sacrificed so much.

To let down those who are looking to you to take it a step further is a real worry for anyone who may be first generation anything. Whether it’s a first generation citizen, immigrant, graduate, or anything that promotes advancement of one’s success. Mak Avina has come to learn over the years that the pressure he may have felt was not for nothing. He is realizing that before that diamond pops out, that he has to hang on and face more challenges to become the man he needs to be for his loved ones. Acting out of his morals and beliefs, he has trust that when it is all said and done that he will have seen out his purpose. The plan set out for him is divine and he has faith in that.

With his head and heart in the right place, close to god, he can do no wrong. Trusting in his path and destiny as long as he puts the work in and does not let distractions throw him off course. This song is a testament to those who have had to work for everything. Working to get by or working to prove that you are more than your appearance or background. Regardless of your setback, it is possible to persevere and find a lane in this life. In America, anything is possible as long as you keep at it. Everything you ever wanted, you already possess internally. All it takes is for you to find that advantage and unlock it to better your own spirit.

Go follow Mak Avina and stay tuned from more on this artist’s catalog.
