Ca$h Bandicoot - Why The Good Die Young (Official Audio)

Seems like I’m losing everybody, like every day somebody dies.
Seems like I’m losing everybody, so many times I should have died.
But it’s like I’m losing everybody, I got brothers facing life,
I don’t wish this shit on anybody.
I done shed every tear that I could cry, seems like I’m losing everybody.
Ain’t a day that y’all don’t cross mind, in my head still think about everybody.
Why the good die young, why the good gotta die.
— Ca$h Bandicoot (Why The Good Die Young)

What’s good everyone? We have been blessed again with another gem from the late Ca$h Bandicoot of Reno, NV. Legends never die and the energy is still being felt in the afterlife. This posthumous offering is titled “ Why The Good Die Young” and is another reminder of the star power that the young MC possessed. It’s a lifestyle thing, Ca$h was one of those artist who just had the sauce. Sprinkling his style into everything he did in life. Especially in music, never afraid to experiment with his sound as it had a wide range. Versatile as any hip hop vocalist could be. Often times, not requiring a pen, Ca$h had a lot of perspective to share straight from his heart.

The irony in this record, is that Ca$h was feeling the pressures of a fast life taking a toll on those around him. Losing friends from earth or to the judicial system, the pain is heavy as it can come from all around you when it hits close to home. The strings and heavy baseline allow Ca$h to come in and let him thrive in his element. As he croons over high energy adlibs, Ca$h tells a story about those who he lost over that 24 years he spent on Earth. It’s tough when your day ones begin to go. This life, in what we choose to do, comes with pros and cons. Regardless, everyone has to let it out. Ca$h chose to share his pain through his art.

This song is a quintessential track in the Ca$h Bandicoot catalog as it gets a glimpse of the pivotal change in perspective. Ca$h was self aware and thought a lot about his presence when it came to music the last year of his life. Recruiting artists in other states for his collective and speaking ideas of unity. Taking pride in the bubbling music scene in his city, although he always did his own thing, he knew what was going on. Ca$h wanted to see his city win. With the music going up, he reflects on those he started the journey with. Even admitting that, during the time, he was not sure how he made it out of certain situations when his loved ones couldn’t.

The song itself is raw and filled with emotion but it’s motivating at the same time. It inspires me to want to keep carrying the torch for all the people I knew in life, who are no longer around. This blog itself, and it’s name, are tributes to a lost friend. I know exactly the feeling Ca$h is expressing in this song. It is a very real feeling that millions of people around the world go through. There’s not telephone to the sky but we can always stay in touch with those who have passed on. For myself, I will play this record whenever I want to hold my loved ones names up in memory. There has not been a day since his passing, that I haven’t thought about Ca$h and this record reassures me that as long as you keep their memory alive then their presence is immortal.

More Ca$h Bandicoot music on the way and plenty more music from YLOC ENT this summer. The catalog and work ethic is next level.
