ZP Ratik - Hungry Featuring Jon Connor (Official Audio)

⚠️ STORM THREAT: This is not a drill! ⚠️

ZP Ratik is back with some early June heat. With a banger of a track that would make any solar flare look like light work. The song is called “Hungry” featuring veteran lyricist Jon Connor and is the music personification of an independent artists drive. Shoutout to ZP for sending this track a week in advance and allowing the exclusive listen. To see it finally out is very exciting. Personally this has been my get up and confront the day motivation every morning since. I find myself wanting to be the best version of me, whether its wanting to be active or get up on my hustle, when I listen to this song. I know any true rap fans or hip hop heads will be able to get down with this one right here. Fans of ZP Ratik or Jon Connor can both make an introduction with a seamless transition of energy as the two go toe to toe for some lyrical sparring to better the culture.

The song spares no time as ZP immediately hops with 10 seconds of the song beginning. It has been quite some time that ZP has been perfecting his craft and today he’s talking that big shit but ready to back up all of it. Nothing has ever stopped him from trying to accomplish what is on his mind. Whether it be following artists to different states to get a good spot on the opening set or trading shifts with co-workers to be able to make these trips happen. If he’s not performing then he’s going to be recording, if he not writing music then he’s going to be filming a video, and so on and so forth. He has dealt with it all, working the merch booth and trying to turn anyone willing to listen into a fan. The janky promoter’s being shiesty with the ticket sales never prevented him from tearing down that stage.

“I don’t care if you don’t love me but I love you if you love me. I’ll go hard for my squad and my city, we be hungry. Why they treat us like we nothing? We got artists, man, we lucky. I’m about to keep it coming. Only time you take a trip is when you running. I’m a boss, I’m a king, I’m a peasant, I’m a thief. I’m whatever I need to be, to get me to where I need. Killing beats definitively, by any fucking means. I wake up still me, so I rinse and repeat!”

You won’t see ZP asking nobody for anything that he could do for himself. This has afforded him a resume that is nothing to sneeze at. It’s no fluke either, it’s no accident that he leaves it all on the mic every chance he can show it. Never one to diminish another’s shine, ZP shows love to artists he respects to encourage a true creative culture for his city to help it bubble. Despite the hate he encounters, he choose to only entertain those who are for him or for the same cause. He wants to let it be known that he’s part of an active scene. If anyone can kick down the door for Reno to have a new spotlight, ZP could do it. With that being said, he commissions another legendary MC who has proved himself as an established independent artist, Jon Connor.

“Homie I’m the truth, running on facts. Rappers see me, they get ghost, right? Like they ain’t write their own raps. I got in it and I meant it I won’t stop until I’m finished. And I will not change my image for a piece of a percentage. Fuck a critic cause these lyrics is my life and not a gimmick. Every line make you shake your head like you coming to your senses.”

Jon Connor has reached a pinnacle in his career and has seen some daunting heights for an independent artist of his caliber. Although he can maybe relax now that he has built such a reputable career from his craft, he chooses to let the fire inside burn. Being the parallel to ZP’s journey, his perspective serves as a message from Jon who was in the position of the former. Now that he is in a place he is in, he demonstrates that your position in this game is only as good as the desire you have for maintaining ravenous for your respect. Yesterday’s score doesn’t count in today’s ball game. What the rap game has to offer and the opinions that float around do not affect him. He is above the opinions of those who can’t do what he does or has ever done. Those that matter to him are the ones looking to him and the legacy he’s leaving behind. Inspiring people in his family and those looking up to him to benefit from the work he’s putting in. The desire to make sure his loved ones are good when he’s gone keeps him hungry even when people might assume he has already reached his goals.

Growth never stops and neither does this song when I get it in rotation. The beat goes crazy and allows the spitters on this song to go absolutely nuts. Just know to never get in the way of these two when it comes to this rap shit. If you aren’t hungry enough to be at the table, don’t even think about grabbing a plate in their presence. This one will be the fuel to a lot of activity going into the summer. I suggest you put this on your playlist right away.
