Reverie x Gavlyn x Natalia Chacon - Antidepressants (Official Audio)

Yo, what’s good everybody? We back with some major heat after a minor hiatus for the Forecast blog. You know how it be, life happens but music helps, remember? Anyways, that’s besides the point, the radar never stops running. If there’s something we take pride in, it’s the artists we see moving with passion and making their impact by being themselves. Their success is everyone’s success and will always be celebrated by the weather watcher. We have never stopped paying attention to the region’s activity when it comes to our artists.

By way of Reno, Nevada, it has been an eventful year for Natalia Chacon since releasing her single “Pretty Girl Bounce” at the top of 2024. The viral hit took her all throughout the west coast, even Texas, for shows, appearances, interviews, etc. She’s even been extremely active in her hometown, with plenty of shows all year long for her longtime supporters in the city. However, she is far from local, with her music crossing international attention on streams and social media using her music for a variety of posts online. Capitalizing off the momentum, Natalia dropped a full length release with her “She Funk” EP in October of 2024. Her unique spin on the west coast sound she grew up on her whole life. Flipping oldies samples, g-funk sounds, and pushing her Brown Girl Magic perspective, the project is an authentic reflection of the artist she has been developing into.

With that being said, it is no surprise that fellow rap veterans of a similar heritage would take notice. North East LA’s very own, Reverie, caught wind of the noise Natalia was making and immediately embraced her as her peer. An extremely skilled lyricist, with an organic connection to the underground scene, Reverie has laid the ground work and touched all the corners independent artists strive to reach as a worldwide touring artist. Being in a position to positively impact others, after knowing what it’s like to not have that helping hand early in her career remains in her conscience. What better way to pay it forward is to highlight other’s who take the craft into same consideration as she does.

She creates a record about feeling over looked, under appreciated, and mishandled by the majority. Realizing that is what gave her the power and fuel to put herself in that position. Without letting it change her heart, she shows that it actually makes here larger by sharing space for other artists who can relate to her feelings. The SFV rap legend, Gavlyn, enters the chat and combines forces to turn this collaboration into a supergroup level event. A fierce MC, Gavlyn, has also been getting it out the mud for over a decade, building a very credible name for her self. A talented writer of her own, Gavlyn has a unique way of speaking life into very complex feelings that are relatable to anyone going through the rawness of human experience. If you do not know, then please get familiar. They both recognize that same passion in Natalia and now we have this unique gem of a record for the underdogs in spirit. Let’s get into “Antidepressants.”

“I love it when he miss me, I love it when he mad at me. A bitch real hype when she get a sense of clarity. All that other shit is for the birds, it’s for the parodies. I’m fucking what they heard, I got penetrating energy.”

Gavlyn kicks it off with a gritty feel to the record, speaking with conviction immediately off her first words. There’s very few people who have access to her energy and even less who get to see her in her element. There’s not much more she can offer to people these days other than some smoke and a night together. After that, you got to bounce cause she has business to handle. It’s not that her heart is cold, it’s grown to be wise. She’s come a long way since before her name held the weight it does today. The trust she has put in others can no longer be held in vain, when they no longer see her for anything besides a product.

At this point in her life, she knows all these new energies coming to her are seeking the take from her own so they can feed off it. The disappointment no longer weighs on her conscience. It’s a part of the life she has built for herself, critics of her life display are always going to have something to say. However, those who play in the game themselves are nothing but spectators. The idea of conformity is not something that shapes her decision making. Those who have anything to say about her life, craft, or trajectory need to stand on what they feel. At some point, you need to draw a line in stand when it comes to your ascension and let it be known that not just anybody can cross it. Their opinions are merely the wind cascading through the descents of the journey and can only knock one of their course if they go down willingly. Gavlyn makes it clear, a lot of people would just leave when it gets hard and that she is simply a woman that is not going to go for anything on this planet.

“If I ever loved you, boy, consider that a luxury. Only time you upgrade is when you’re in my company.”

Most people that enter our lives, are not to be there forever, and often times they stick around until they no longer can benefit from having the privilege of knowing you. They serve their purpose, providing a necessary lesson for the chapter they were introduced, and leave impacted by your energy. Especially when experiencing rapid changes or unexpected growth, that only you are capable of handling. Seeing something they thought they once knew becoming renowned and recognized in a different light. The whole time, they themselves not doing anything to accelerate their own position to which they want to occupy. It creates a resentment of themselves and instead of facing it themselves, they will flip it on to you.

Citing you as the reason to why things are not the same, why the love you had to offer was not enough. Remove yourself from the equation, and your stock will immediately begin to rise. Now what was once not enough becomes uncommon, leaving a void in their lives that no one else but you can fill. No matter how hard they try, you cannot replicate the connection or close the gap once it reaches a certain point. Good luck trying to catch lighting in a bottle again. Should you ever get lucky enough to witness it again, it will never be on your terms. When you treat someone cold hearted, do not be surprised once they become frozen.

Reverie, How The Grouch Stole Christmas 2023 @ The Virginia St Brewhouse in Reno, NV

“Depressed, broken, uh-uh-unlucky. So here I am sulking. All inside my head like fuck it.”

When you are chosen to take a different path, life might have a funny way of showing it. It begins with not being like the others, being put down for the way you think, and questioning your own worth. Being unique can feel much like being an outcast, especially in an environment where the examples that look like you do not relate to your spirit. Why bother? These people do not get me, they never have, and will not likely hear me out.

I’ve never been anyone's first choice, more often than not their last option. They treated me differently and was hard to remember despite introducing myself repeatedly. Anytime I had a good idea, it was received but credit never returned. I was quiet, speaking only when spoken to so I rarely spoke. Years of my life wasted due to not feeling impactful. Settling for bare minimum from others who I looked up to or wanted to stay around. Eventually you learn that trying to be understood is counter intuitive to creating your own understanding.

Your powers make the wrong people in life insecure and they will push it on to you to suppress them, naturally. However, you begin to reclaim those powers when you relinquish that control they have over your headspace. Remove their concern, unapologetically, and you’ll alienate yourself temporarily. See people like me and you are rare, it takes time to come in contact with others cut from that same cloth. Trust the process, who you are, your god, and those who show up for you no matter how hard it gets inside your head. Eventually you’ll connect with the right individuals and begin to intertwine the threads.

“Fuck my weak ass haters. You bitches ain’t competition. Got no enemies besides overthinking and obsession. I am my biggest critic, that’s why I ain’t ever satisfied. That’s why I don’t take days off, give a fuck about a cosign.”

We tend to suffer in imagination more than we do in reality. Everything around you can be going to complete shit and the people in your life might become increasingly unreliable. None of that matters as long as when you lay your head down at night, you are able to rest easily knowing that you are sticking true to your morals, beliefs, and standards. Most the time people who have time to speak on the next person does not have a single thing going on in their life of meaningful significance. If you have not walked in these shoes, then your opinion on the next step for me is all the way out the window. When its all said and down, God will call you home, the universe will reclaim your spot then you will be answering to nothing besides the decisions you made it life forever being cemented that can longer be undone.

“I am the gold mine, I am the precious cargo. You’ll never get to travel as far as I go. Don’t smile in my face after what you said behind my back cause I know.”

How arrogant of you to try and define my worth when you do not honor your own spirit. Despite how little these other mortals have made me feel, the universe has been guiding me through the hurt and disappointment so that my skin is conditioned for what I am truly meant for. So go ahead do your worst, say all the things to strike a nerve, and reveal what is that keeps you awake at night. What is not understood is feared and what is be learned is unclear. That’s where the faith has been fermenting, deep inside the core.

Reverie will never go out without a fight once discovering her true potential in this life. By harboring all the projections they have bestowed into her belief system. She return the favor, not to bring harm, but to demonstrate where envy cauterizes their hope of ever getting near the light they tried so desperately to put out. This is her way of saying “I wish you nothing but the best and a ‘FUCK YOU’ of cosmic proportions. At this point, you and I have been granted what we are entitled to.” The life and death of which we deserve, and the live they have to endure is death in itself.

Natalia Chacon, Speak Easy 6/1/24 @ The Cypress in Reno, NV

“Withholding conversation, been severing isolation. My behavior been complacent. Legs is tired, I’m done chasing.”

Natalia is on the same path that the two former had to trek on their own. With a lot to discover about herself, Natalia’s self awareness pulsates intensely through the confines of her mind. Questioning at times her own motivation and what keeps her going. Her passion, much like her heart, radiates naturally but knows the path ahead does not take kindly to bright eyes and warm smiles. By taking heed to those who have come before her, she grows weary of those looking to steal her time and peace of mind. Many people know her up until the person she has become but will they continue to grow with her as she becomes the person she is meant to be.

People may want to get to know her for being someone pretty or someone who is on their way to new level’s of success that her previous circles know nothing about. It is better to establish boundaries and carry herself in a way that is not going to ruin her love for the music. No time for fake love or lustful ambitions, it’s time to get to this bag for however long it’s up for grabs. Not that she has to go out of her way, there’s plenty of people willing to pay for her time. Even go getters find themselves stuck in their heads, its a small line to cross when the grind has your dancing on the brink of insanity. No matter how early or far along, the likelihood of falling into the wrong state of mind only increases.

“Acting like you know me, need to kill that shit first degree. I can’t shake this uncertainty, been sipping with the urgency. Man, motherfuck a consequence and fuck you and your two cents.”

It takes a new environment to show you truly what you are made of. This brings along worries that no one can really prepare you for, the hurdles are unique to your current footing. There’s moments where maybe the vices are leaned on more than others. Soothing the anxiety that pensively sits a dull weight between your shoulders. There’s nothing worse than someone who never sticks around when things get bad for you but only pop up to tell you what they think is good for you. Funny how that works, huh? We pay them no mind and put trust in our intuition that we know what needs to be done when the choice corners us into making the decision for ourselves. It’s the classic “I'm the one that's got to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to.

“Fuck a psychiatrist, I don’t take my script. I’d rather just spark a spliff to forget the skeletons in my closet. And I’d rather dream because it make you mine, it make you change your mind. And I like dreaming cause it make it fine.”

No therapy or medications can prevent you from feeling delusional, especially when walking down the road that nobody really ever comes back from. The price of your new life always costs the old one anc Natalia is ready to cash in. She has accepted her fate, flaws, and all. This is the mold casted by the irons the fires of life has shaped for her. Entering a pivotal moment this last year, she releases her doubts and bets it all on herself. Though she wishes things can be the way she wants, nothing is exempt from change. The only time things ever really stayed the same was in her sleep where they are not able to get in her mind without her permission.

All three emcees have a heart loaded and a mind as dangerous as any weapon created by man. Bonded through struggles of being underestimated in all facets, this record is a redemption of the psyche. A true crossroads of where pain meets prosperity and misery finally deciding it no longer wants any company. This song resonates deeply with the weather watcher, and hopefully for the ones reading this right now. Three generations of lyricism cementing their contributions for the world to see what’s possible when the perceived “underdogs” come together. Everyone came with a sharp sword and let the blood running down their sleeves become the ink.

We hope you enjoyed our breakdown of “Antidepressants” and if you haven’t already, go stream all three of these artists music. Find the record down below and be sure to follow them on social media. If you can relate to any of the words, let us know on our page and share it with a friend. There’s a lot more gems to be uncovered. If we put you on to any of these artists, add this one into your playlist today! Until next time, be sure to stay tuned into the forecast and run it up!

“Shoot for the Scaai” (STRAYS EP Review + Interview)

Scaai (pronounced like “sky”) is an exceptionally composed artist based out of Reno, NV.  A creative, genuine spirit that finds different channels of expression in multiple aspects of his life.  Most notably, the music he creates which is enchanting in itself and meticulously put together.  His style is fresh and nostalgic in a way that is contemporary with previous breakthrough artists of our generation.  You can find reminiscent feelings of Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, Kali Uchis, Smino, and Zacari to name just a few.  Despite feeling like some of our favorites in the culture, his music does not sound like anything else but his own.

He is fresh off his latest release titled “STRAYS,” which is available on all streaming platforms.  A two piece offering, that can get you through the hardest of Mondays with its soothing frequencies and tantalizing lyrics.  Simple, yet enticing, proving that it can all be so simple yet it’s human nature to overcomplicate the feelings we all go through.  There are a lot of things in life that takes up unnecessary space and reduces our mental capacity.

“I got the medicine made.

It’s right on your doorstep.

The back of my brain.

And it’s ready to chase like a dog in a race.  Can’t shoot a stray.

I want your love back.

Easy enough.

I need you to come back.

Where did you go?”

For those forlorn, by a love lost, perhaps you would enjoy the title track “STRAYS” to help you find solace in their absence.  Perfect for an emotional, and literal, clean of house.  Sometimes our feelings need to be decluttered in order to see our surroundings more clearly.  Next time you feel overwhelmed by how another soul is affecting yours, put this on and practice some self care.  Make your bed, take a walk, exercise, or sit in sunlight with an open mind.  Who knows, you might just remember who the fuck you are in case you forgot!  Either way, we promise it will help!

“That’s a temporary love, we didn’t even know what we wanted from.”

Once the healing vibes start settling in and you get to reflecting on your own actions, perhaps you can relate to the introspective touch that shines through on the second song “GRAVEL.”  Sometimes the things we thought we wanted was only out of a perceived void.  Carrying emptiness in your heart can make it easy for you to fill the space with anything that fits remotely close to it.  That does not mean it is for you but also does not mean that it did not serve a purpose.  Two souls do not meet by accident, there’s a lesson in every connection.  Whatever brought you into each other’s life will set its course for as long as we can handle.  It’s better to forfeit than to force it.  What’s love without risk?  Explore your chances and move accordingly.

“STRAYS” is Scaai’s first release of 2023 and second commercial release on all digital streaming platforms.  With the most prior coming from 2022, with the single “Blush.”  This year begins the revamp of his solo endeavors, alongside future collaborations with other artists in his circle.  A producer himself, under the alias Chopstikk, has some upcoming plans on and off the mic.  We are anticipating his collaboration album with Reno’s Jimmy Teflon.  After getting some exclusive insight on the project, we can say that these two contrast each other very well and bring out some of each other’s best work.  More on that later.  Until then Scaai is here to let the world know he’s not going to let off the gas anytime soon.

Although his solo work is what put him on the WW Music Forecast’s radar, he has been an artist pretty much all his life.  An interesting person in real life, we have been staying up to date with this artist via mutual connections in the Northern Nevada creative space.  With the work he has been putting in behind the scenes and seeing the final products come to the surface, we couldn’t have thought of a more deserving artist to highlight in our first article of the new year.  Naturally, we connected with Scaai to get the basics straight from the source and he was more than happy to share some crucial information for the introduction.  See below:

WW: Where’s your hometown?

Scaai: “I was born in Oakland but grew up in Reno”

WW: Who are some of your creative inspirations?

Scaai: “At this point in my creative journey I take so much inspiration [from] a variety of styles. Of course I have a lot of respect for the Kendrick’s and Cole’s of the world but at the same time I love finding new artists to be inspired by.  Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Isaiah Rashad, Ben Reilly, Jahmed, Jordan Ward, and Zaia. I guess when it comes to what inspires me, it’s usually just hearing music that sounds refreshing and creative.  It could be as simple as a lyric or a bassline. Whatever gets me off my ass and in the studio.”

WW: How long have you been doing music?

Scaai: “I’ve been into music since I was young. I started playing the drums when I was like 5 and just always had an ear for it. I’ve been creating/releasing music for about 8 years.  It’s definitely had its obstacles, there’s even been times when I didn’t want to do music any more. Overall I’m happy to still be working on it and am grateful for the relationships I’ve gained through it.”

WW: What are your short term goals for music vs. your personal life?

(Music)

Scaai: “I would like to release a couple more records before my collab album with Jimmy [Teflon] comes out next spring. We worked really hard on it and it’s also the first project I executive-produced from start to finish. I also just want to further progress my artistry and establish myself as a creative symbol that genuinely contributes to the current scope of music.”

(Personal)

Scaai: “I definitely need a vacation. I be workin hard in and out of the studio so I’d definitely like to take a couple weeks off and just go somewhere that’s warm and relaxing.”

WW:  Now, what are your long term goals for music vs. your personal life?

(Music)

Scaai: “I honestly just want to continue to build my portfolio and make sure that I’m challenging myself to get better as an artist. Hopefully over the next year I can grow a fan base that believes in my art and the pieces I choose to put out. I’m excited to see where I’m at a year from now.”

(Personal)

Scaai: “I’m always striving to be a better version of myself. I just want to continue to show love and appreciation the ones close to me. Life doesn’t come with many genuine connections so I really want to make sure that I’m taking care of the ones that I have been blessed with. Hopefully overtime those relationships are able to grow stronger.”

WW: Last, what’s one fact about you that most people do not know about you?

Scaai: “My artist name ‘Scaai’ is just my real name ‘Isaac’ rearranged. Not that unique but I feel like a lot of people don’t put it together.”

If this is your first time getting familiar with the man himself then go hit him up on Instagram on @scaai.walker or @zmanisaac.  Catch up with him around town, catch a drink served by him at the Poor Devil Salon or support his art!  A down to earth person, with a lot of perspective to share.  Seeing artists like him inspires us to aim a little bit higher in life.  We are excited to see where his charisma and overall appreciation for life takes him.  We will be rooting for him.  Most importantly, he’s got a gang of amazing music on the way for y’all to enjoy.  You will not be disappointed.  Be sure to hit him up online and let him know that the Weather Watcher put you on!

Now that you have a brief background on the artist, let’s bring it back to “3.'“ Since its release one month ago, it has been in constant rotation. Some how always finding my way back to playing this EP over and over again. In today’s musical landscape, there are not too many releases that are still getting played a month after its initial drop. This also makes it easy to sift out the true gems, which brings us to this very moment. You know gatekeeping is not our style over at the Weather Watcher Music Forecast, so let’s get into the breakdown.

1) Controlla

Sequoyah is direct with her love, it needs to be sincere and deeply rooted. Communicating her requirements and boundaries for cultivating this love. Love is a game not to be played by the faint of heart. As all is in fairness in both love and war, two sides of the same blade. How deep are you willing to be cut for it? Are you willing to bleed for it and wear it on your sleeve with pride? For the love we deserve can not be anything other than raw honesty. I don’t think anyone really understands what it means to have a soul mate. Sure, we all mix when you apply the pressure and force the contents against itself. However, we all won’t blend in the way we would like to think. It’s funny how naïve we are to it, much like a baker’s first time in the kitchen.

“I’ve been roaming, I’ve been rolling. I’ll drive that car like I stole it. I’m a controller babe, let me hold it babe. Told you I love it when you say my name.”

The intention can be there, we want to bake the most beautiful cake. You scurry to grab the ingredients you have been told to need and you go for it. Fast forward, you rushed mixing everything for your batter, estimated your measurements, make some substitutions out of compromise, and the final product is not quite what you expected. Things happen and you go with it, more time passes, and its time to take your cake out the oven. You have so much pride and attachment to this cake you have been working so hard on, even when things did not go your way. You pull it out and its not cake at all, its not even a treat of your own desire. What happened? Sequoyah begins to croon to the hopeless romantics on this one, imploring them to rise up against those dimming their light. You are worth more.

“Tell me something you never told a living soul. You call me patient. You’re not my doctor.”

To try endlessly giving yourself to another person who you were never meant to blend with can be the most defeating feeling. It takes time to learn how to do this in the first place, bonds have been solidified and your sense of security is alleviated by their presence. Time continues to run away from us and all of a sudden, you are pulled away to a strange place. This safe space is no longer such, it has you questioning was my love ever welcome here? What was once home becomes just a bed, it makes you miss the good days or what you had thought it been before your heart grew tired of waiting on cold feet.

Maybe I’m just crazy but still feel its not too much to ask for. Every time I asked for a sign of reassurance, it was met with denial. I must be tripping, you love me you once said. I’ll continue to be patient, eventually you’ll come along. Of course I’ll be understanding, we all deserve time, I don’t mind sacrificing some of mine for you. It’s what you do for someone you love, no? Am I asking myself these things because you don’t answer when I ask you anymore?

“I could be your lover your holy friend. So tell me where you want to go. Tell me cause I need to know.”

Was I ever what you wanted? Why come take this journey with me to the water and be hesitant to take that drink? If I’m only of convenience then set me free now. Don’t string me along, the world has plenty to offer and would hate to take that away from both parties by wondering what’s the point of it all if you aren’t all in. You don’t even have to meet me halfway, I’ll meet you three quarters of the way there. You got to give me something to work with, my cup doesn’t have anymore to share. I see you over there thriving and overflowing with it, pouring your extras into everyone else that hasn’t been right by your side without falter. They smile and laugh along with you as you all toast to the mutual love. If wanting a sip from your cup every now and then makes me a controller, then so be it. I may not be your preferred choice but you will always have my loyalty for as long as you allow me to give it.

I guess this is my queue to focus on myself, thank you for your time but I will be needing to take some back. This song is nostalgic and feels timeless, with notes of 60s psychedelic rock, soul, and r&b. There’s nothing it sounds like other than Sequoyah Fox, your first time listening will give you chills. The songwriting is meaningful and easy to digest.

2) FU

Realizing your worth tends to be the byproduct of inner turmoil. You got to go through it to get to it and its better late than ever. Don’t be afraid to speak your peace, honesty never hurt anybody. Maybe some bruised egos but you’ll be alright, you tough right? The bounce back looks good, wear it with pride. What you thought was worth crying over eventually becomes laughable. Nothing to be ashamed about, you gave your loyalty to someone who had no intention of holding on it for the rest of their lives. You may feel capable of doing so but don’t forget that it has to be mutual. Sequoyah takes the moment to talk her shit on this one after her moment of vulnerability.

“You told me you would never hurt me. You’d never desert me. You would never lie, it’s that girl, she’s the one flirting. Now I see you scheming, this crystal ball I’m reading. I don’t need no cards, it’s the energy I’m seeing.”

I’m not stupid, you used to act like you loved me back. At some point, it was you that wanted me most. Why would you bother if loneliness was your only reason for peaking interest. That’s fucked up, all those years, moments, and signs that did not make sense at the time. It all makes sense, it’s obvious you never knew what you wanted. I appreciate you trying to hold it down while the pieces were starting to fall apart but don’t hurt yourself, I got it. Sequoyah has a lot to get off her chest and does not hesitate to do so. Closure can come in many forms, don’t rely on someone else to get it. Find your own and stand on that.

“You got me so fucked up, heading for the door. You can keep it cause you need the love, you need the love, you need the love. He was melting like a demon, I loved you all four seasons. Cardi said it best, ‘what was the reason?’”

Just when things started clicking for me, learning how to love someone the way they require, you just had to flip the script. What was the reason?! All for what, pride? Some cheap company? This is our lives you are playing with. I know I wasn’t perfect but no one would ever be as understanding as I. Who else would extend their grace and make you look good whilst making themselves look bad. We were supposed to be on this ride together, how did I end up under this bus?

”I just wanna say you had the best, you got me so fucked up..… wishing you the best but you lost me so I wish you luck.”

I may lose my composure but that’s what happens when you lose pieces of yourself. So I release the pieces I’ve collected back unto where they come from. For that I may walk forward with grace and take the lesson that I was supposed to learn. Thank you for what worth remembering and may the peace be with you. I hold no resentment or wish any ill will upon you. I am who I am because of you and that version is stronger. The new chapter that is upon my horizon will be the one worth telling when you need an example of things gone right. The chapter that’s closing will be the one told of caution of what not to do. Both serve a purpose and that’s all there is to it.

If you can relate to any of these feelings, this may be your jam to boss up with. It’s a catchy tune that you can channel all that “fuck you” energy to the people who have played with your heart more than you deserved.

3) Retrograde

Every day is a blessing and we are to treat it as such for gratitude is the essence of all that is balanced in our experience. However, we are not our best days, just as much as we are not our worst moments. We are simply chimes, freely hanging, and going along with however the winds blows us this time. There are moments where we can be filled with so much ambition, limitless life, and inspiration. In turn, we find ourselves having the heaviest of thoughts that make us feel like we are stuck in the forceful grips of doubt. It takes the energy out of you just to even be awake, as much everyday is a battle.

“Don’t hate me if I don’t get out of bed today. I’ve got too many thoughts I need to take a break. Don’t hate me if I don’t respond to you for days.”

There’s no shame in having the days where it defeats you and all you can do is find solace in simply existing. I too find myself needing more alone time than the average human. Have no fear of the existential dread as Sequoyah is our guide out of this head space. Her comforting words spread like orange marmalade on your Sunday morning toast across the instrumental. She serenades us to reassure us that we are only human, who happen to feel things from time to time. Be kind to yourself.

“Don’t hate me if I don’t have the strength to hold the space. I went through ten major life events just today. Don’t hate me if I don’t have time for you, okay.”

The vibe is bouncy, your feelings are being validated, and that sunken place seems to feel less deep with every swing of the music. Take your moment to breathe, write your affirmations, think it out, and reassess the situation. Take the day to feel what you need to feel and the rest will become clear again. The present is all we can ever experience, what has happened or has yet to happen does not exist. In the same essence, the present is temporary and whatever is going on right now will too pass and cease to be your reality. So lick your wounds, wait until the stars begin to align in your favor, and be ready to jump through that window when it comes again. For now, don’t be ashamed to shut the blinds and sleep the day away until the bad vibes run their course. Life is tragedy and learning to cope with it can be exhausting. You are doing your best right now, soul, and that’s the best thing you can be doing right now. Even if you do not feel that is true.

“I’m looking back on things from two planets away. Don’t hate me if I am doing me today. Cause times are thick, six planet station retrograde. You could do, you could do better. That might be true but I’m blaming the cosmic weather.”

The vocal performance on this record continues to intensify and by the second half, you are completely uplifted by the melodies of the record. At the same time, your mind races on all your worries, collects them in one spot, and tells your brain to let them go. Right now is your focus, breathe in and out. Everyone is going through it, it’s in the atmosphere, beyond our control. Why worry so much about what you have control of? Let yourself be taken away. You spend day in and day out worrying, it does not mean anything is wrong with you. It’s the fact life be life-ing and it will takes it toll on anyone.

This perhaps being the strongest record of the three track EP, was a personal favorite although all of the records were enjoyable. Recently experiencing some lows in life has thrown the Weather Watcher for a loop but this song really has been keeping my motivation going. In your loneliest moments, this song reminds you that you are not alone and that it’s okay to not be okay. The fact that you can step back and own up to it just lets you know that things are going to work out!

Sonically the EP is anxiety reducing, comforting, and thought provoking. I felt myself dealing with real emotions and feelings, sorting them through my head, and offering more grace for myself when I am not being myself. There’s a motto that we got around the blog, “Life Happens, Music Helps.” When life happens, this is exactly the type of music we lean on to make the days feel less stressful. We are grateful to get to enjoy the EP “3.” and hope you enjoyed it as well. Find the Spotify streaming link down below.

BigWigLTD - FIRE EP (Official Audio)

What’s good y’all?  Heateorologist Emo G reporting in my FIRST EVER published article!  Big shouts to the team at Weather Watcher for this opportunity and I look forward to providing more coverage on the region in the coming months.  I’ve been a huge hiphop fan my entire life and have a wide range of styles and knowledge of the art form that I hope to bring to the team!

I’m bringing you an update on the latest fire raging across the sound banks of Reno.  The perpetrator of this latest disturbance on our radar is BigWigLTD with his new release, FIRE!

BigWigLTD has been putting in work for years under various alias’s, doing dozens of shows in the region and releasing nearly 100 tracks as smOke skreeZy.  In April of this year, he decided to switch the style up, and dropped “FOOD” with Richie Panelli. A stunning feast for the eyes, where they riff on how they enjoy women in the way they enjoy fine dining.  That scrumptious sonic landscape paved the way for this latest release, FIRE. This project was recorded and produced entirely at BigWigLTD’s home studio, known as Cash Hill BLVD.  Be sure to tap in if you’re feeling the sound of these tracks.

Let’s get into the music!  Produced by aL Bakwurdz, FIRE sets off with "CHKN", letting you know that BigWigLTD is all about his business, and soon the booming drums get your head nodding.  Wig comes in with a laid back, melodic flow, taking you on a journey through his universe, seamlessly integrating imagery from the MCU and Star Wars, along with sky high goals, setting the tone with, “In ya city, chicken flippin’, higher than the ceiling, tripping, tryna get a milli every milli-second.” The track weaves its way through clever wordplay and punchlines, showcasing the two decades of honing the craft that The Wig has put in.  By the end of the track, we are welcomed to the Blotter Room, and invited to come through.

As the words of “CHKN” fade, the strings of “Hymn” begin, and you are asked, “Do you really feel free?”  In today’s climate, it’s a fair question.  The Wig retorts with, “Can’t let anybody see the real me. Been riding filthy, tryna get clean,” implying that he is trapped in the life he’s created.  Stuck between addiction and aspiration, being the hero and the villain, all while trying to attain the most precious gifts life has to give, that money can’t buy.  “Gimme all this shit, higher consciousness. Living prosperous, exotic dishes, different continents.”   The ending results in The whaLe scaLe letting go of his old life, habits, and homies. The beat rides out on an orchestra of chords and that knock only aL Bakwurdz can provide.

FIRE comes equipped with a radio edit, instrumental, and vocal versions.  The Wiiig also released some supporting content, “Behind The Boards”, with me, Emo G, presented by Cash Hill BLVD, if you wish to dive deeper into the meaning behind the bars.

Overall, the four minutes or so spent in the world of BigWigLTD and aL Bakwurdz is sure to make your head nod, and also make you reflect.  It’s a great start to the next phase of BigWigLTD, and I personally can’t wait to see what’s next.  Fun yet introspective, I have a feeling FIRE is about to spread to weather systems across the region.

Until next time, this is Emo G, signing off
