Thursday night vibes coming in smooth with the latest visuals from STEVIE titled “Genuine.” This visual treatment for his single is produced by WithTheVisuals and directed by @AlfredxLeon. The artist formerly known as Steven Jame$, recently switched up the moniker over the last year. This song serves as his first solo release since last year’s BURN album (stream down below). Released on June 19th, 2021, the song touches on the topic of people who been holding him down and just being himself, unapologetically. Stevie has been grinding for years and building up a loyal following out of his city. This record serves a good snapshot of how he’s been feeling in his mind.

Stevie comes in with a smooth little melody over a trance inducing rhythm that provides an infectious bounce. Depicting him cruising through the night and how it is these days when moving around the city. Whether it be the women who are taking notice of who he is or who they think he is. You are never really sure with people who are watching from the outside. The love from anyone can be misleading and its hard to tell with them. Stevie remains weary and is two steps ahead of them. He knows his worth and isn’t going to let someone unsure of themselves make him feel a certain way. He takes notice to the haters but if they aren’t going to do something about it then it’s water under the bridge. Regardless of who is messing with him or not, it is what it is, Stevie is going to keep it pushing.
The song comes in on the shorter side at the 2:27 minutes mark but easy to get lost in. You may just find yourself replaying this one multiple times. The video itself is well done and captures the essence of the record. Highlighting Stevie in his element, without a big group of people. You get the vibe that Stevie likes to keep a small but tight circle. For those who can relate with not compromising on your value, this record might just hit home.
