Jay-T - Slept On (Official Music Video)
Happy Sunday everyone, a day not to be slept on. Recharge, refresh, and reset in the way you need to be efficient in your week. Just a few days ago (5/12/2021) Full Price Music Group owner, Jay-T, released a new visual for his track titled “Slept On.” A reminder to anyone that chooses to overlook the work ethic, that he is coming to surpass y’all and not look back twice. A sentiment the weather watcher often feels in real life. To be an underdog is a long but rewarding journey. There’s many times when you come to people, in hopes to partner up or build, but quickly find out that people are not always loyal to the vision. There may be times where people whom you respect look down on your ambitions or do not think much of anything you are passionate about. Jay-T is the type that never let doubters taint his perspective from the very day he decided to commit to his passions. Even when it may seem its not going to pan out or make any momentum, the faith and desire met up with dedication. Now successfully launching a second business endeavor, Full Price Media, Jay-T continues to find a way to make a living through creative outlets.
“I ain’t tired of being slept on. Cause when it comes to the facts, they ain’t working like that. When I’m out, I got my weapon. Cause there’s some n****s that ain’t met me tryna lay a n**** flat.”
Jay-T is reaching that transitional period in his growth where people are starting to see value. It may be hard to forgive or forget about the long days of “no” and being left on read but Jay-T eats all the blows without leaving any chips on his shoulder. He does it for those that love to see him prosper and to distance himself from those who hate that he is not an amateur anymore. Show and prove. By always showing up, they can never count you out. The rate at which you grow is unprecedented because any formula that was not exclusively created by you will never work. Trusting in yourself allows you to pave that path, its the Full Price Way. If Jay-T waited for someone else to help bring his ideas to life, he would not have his platform and community resources available to his home towns, to help bring other artists ideas to life. The proof is in the work, Jay-T talks that big shit because he has fully integrated himself into a business.
A prime example of Full Price vertical integration is in this song. The beat is produced by Jay-T under the moniker JMidi (that’s him). The song is written, or orally curated with out actual writing involved, by Jay-T. The song was record, mixed and mastered at the Full Price Studio (owned and engineered by Jay-T). Last but not least, the visual was directed by Julius Tanks (also, him) and filmed by Full Price Media (yes, you guessed it, owned by Jay-T). No one else needed to be relied on to bring this record to life and that’s not a knock to anyone else. This is 100% motivation that whatever you want to do, or even try, can be done if you just make a plan and take it one step at a time.
The way Jay-T has inspired me through his music and being transparent with his journey, is that the worst thing you can do is not go for it. Previous to launching theweatherwatcher.com, I knew nothing about building websites, making blogs, and articulating the way I digest music into a written format. Talking about music and sharing the endless perspective it brings is something that comes natural. So trusting in that allowed me to bring the Weather Watcher music forecast and coverage to life. I bit the bullet, assessed my budget and resources to invest in a new laptop, domain and license fees amongst many others. Although this may not see immediate return on investment, I have found a new outlet that satisfies an interest I would have never thought I could develop.
So listen to this one many times and think about if you have ever just went for something you really wanted. Not for personal gain or monetization but to nourish your spirit. Do not completely forget though, stay out your feelings and get in your bag! Give this a listen and let us know your thoughts on any of our socials.
