Cast Away$ - Effortless (Official Music Video)
What’s good everyone? You’re tuned in the WW music forecast, reviewing the best music in the region. Today is no different than most on the WW Radar. The vibe for today’s blog is provided by the Lake Tahoe spitters, Cast Away$. Before proceeding, here at WW, all prayers and thoughts are with the people of Lake Tahoe being affected by the current fires. Send positive vibes to Cast Away$ and their loved ones who are being evacuated. Focusing on more positive matters, their latest single “Effortless” received a visual treatment. The Raiin produced song was mixed/mastered by Bozzy and the video was directed/edited by JWar In The Kitchen. A nice set of visuals for a song that rides pretty steady in the whip.
“Try and test the gang, we don’t play. I been running plays for while, we cannot say. We might just pull up on your block, give a fuck the time of day. Got the section going wild, I don’t think nobody safe.”
O.D. kicks off the first verse and pops his shit over the heavy baseline of the beat. There’s no time to be humble, he’s looking for respect. Truthfully, the whole crew been on their shit. Taking the craft serious as ever and investing everything into it. So they can’t tolerate anyone trying to downplay the growth. Although in the beginning it was much harder to get a little time from others, that is not the case now. People might be taking notice to the progress made and finally taking them serious. You weren’t there in the gym shooting, so coming around now isn’t genuine and serves no purpose. Fake support is something the Cast Away$ aren’t feeling and O.D. tells it like it is in his verse. Never being concerned with the negativity, the crew sticks with those who truly support the grind. Anyone else can keep that same energy, now that they know how far they can take it.
“The only time you love me when I’m banging 808s again. A fantasy inside your brain a dragon burning everything. Nobody in a suit of armor coming, better run my friend.”
Kasper takes over second and brings in a switch in melody, further elaborating on the sentiments being shared by O.D. The insincerity is felt from all around. No matter how you slice it, friend or lover, they’re all capable of being users. People love the idea of what you can provide to their lives. Stability, security, or sanity. Now that things are looking more professional and opportunities are arising, people will do anything to see what’s beyond those doors. You’d be surprised what people would believe or put up with just for some sort of instant gratification. Come to realize that there was no real intention of getting to know you truly. There’s really no way of dealing with them, other than just keeping that from an arm’s distance. You are only as good as the people who are good to you. So what you tolerate or condone, is ultimately a reflection of your own self respect. It’s best to learn who you’re dealing with and move accordingly.
“How we come from the distance then end up in this position. I knew they wouldn’t be winning if I just kept with a mission.”
Sins hops on the verse last and puts the nail in the coffin for any doubters. Whether it be day ones who fell out or haters who don’t know what the crew is about. Even if they understood, they couldn’t have done what they’ve accomplished if given the chance to walk the shoes. There’s something to be said about keeping your head down and working. Once you focus long enough, you can take the time to see where you’re at and those around you. You may find there’s less people around then when you first started working at it. That only means you’re doing it right. At higher levels of what you choose to do with your life, less people tend to stick it out as things become more challenging. Something my mother said to me, once before, comes to mind: “There’s no such thing as free lunch.” Let alone a free ride. Everything gained, every step taken forward, and every opportunity granted is not by accident. You need to pay into the benefits you sought to reap. Most won’t get it if they don’t got it. The way these three work, you don’t got to worry. If you ever have to question your support for what they got going on, it only shows how little they need it from you.
Go stream the record on all platforms and follow the crew under the Spotify player below. Stay tuned for what is coming next from the boys down in Tahoe. One thing you can expect, is a whole lot more work. Don’t underestimate an underdog. The Cast Away$ are hungry for more and this record only validates that.
